Welcome to the FACE RealeLibrary!

Family and Child Education (FACE) is a family literacy program for Native American families funded by the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). Since 1990, FACE has been helping Native American parents reach their goals and support their children’s education.

RealeBooks are unique because they are easy to create and produce and can be made to reflect the culture and language of any community. FACE programs have been making RealeBooks for several years. In 2004, the BIE provided training, software and materials to all 39 FACE programs so that they could create RealeBooks for the families in their programs and teach adult students to create them for their children.

In 2006, the BIE provided materials, training and technical assistance to 9 FACE programs to create 4 books each month for all the families in their programs and the kindergarten students at their schools. The RealeBook project is just one of the many initiatives over the last 16 years aimed at building the literacy opportunities of the families in Native American communities served by the FACE program.

All of the books in this library have been created by teachers and students of the FACE programs. You are welcome to download and use these books or modify them to reflect your community. We hope you enjoy them.
